River Wye - Chilterns
This short tributary of the River Thames is a rare chalk stream, flowing through the Chiltern Hills (not to be confused with the Welsh River Wye which flows just a few miles from where we're based!). Once a vital industrial power source, there were over 30 water mills along its short length. Now it is being brought back to life by the Chiltern Rangers. This project aimed to raise awareness of this forgotten waterway. We produced 9 interpretation panels along the river. The panels are designed to be eye-catching and attractive to casual passers-by, with large photos of some of the wildlife that is returning to the river. Text is brief but informative, encouraging people to explore, enjoy and care for this hidden gem.
